THEATRESPORTS

Have you thought about why did things like sporting events draw so well while theaters were half empty? Could it be that the connotations of "culture" kept people away? People would go to a football game without knowing beforehand if it would be a good game; they were, however, assured of excitement and the opportunity to participate, to vocalize, and to invest something of themselves in the event and the outcome. The goal, and the result, of Theatresports™ is to attract people who wouldn't normally go to the theatre.

Theatresports™ started as a game with two teams of improvisers, competing against each other, audience is simply like watching a football match.  The scene work might consist of basic improvisational games or scenes might be created according to any variation of information such as character, relationship or place, etc. obtained from the audience.  Audience are also invited to be the judge and act as a role in the play.

iTi is a non-profit organization set up by the master of improvisation, Keith Johnstone.  It is well organized and provides help and relevant information and contacts for the licensee worldwide, and conference is held regularly.  Champion was invited to the International Theatresports™ Conference 2003 and Improvaganza International Improv Festival in Canada, to share with the experienced Theatresports™  groups of different places.  Moreover, we invited Impro Melbourne of Australia to perform Impro Madly with us in Hong Kong in 2004.
